Schools
Students living in Stevenson Ranch are under the jurisdiction of Newhall School District and William S. Hart High School District. Campuses serving Stevenson Ranch include Pico Canyon Elementary, Stevenson Ranch Elementary, Rancho Pico Junior High School and West Ranch High School. Santa Clarita Valley schools in general have an excellent reputation and are consistently ranked in the top 10 percent of all California schools.
Area Parks
Stevenson Ranch parks are managed by the Los Angeles County Parks and Recreation Department. The main park facility within the community is the 16-acre Dr. Richard H. Rioux Memorial Park. Locals use the site for soccer games, free play, picnicking, day camps and special seasonal events. There is also a scenic five acre site, Jake Kuredjian Park, with additional open space and a walking path.
Golf
Golf is popular with residents throughout the Santa Clarita Valley. Closest to Stevenson Ranch is the Vista Valencia Golf Course, located just on the eastern side of Interstate 5. Vista Valencia is a public facility offering an 18-hole executive course and a nine-hole par 3 course. A few miles north is the Valencia Country Club, an 18-hole private course. In 1995, the Valencia Country Club course was ranked as the 25th best in the state by Golf Digest.
Recreation
Less structured recreation is available within driving distance, both in and outside the Santa Clarita Valley. Stevenson Ranch is located in the foothills of the rugged Santa Susana Mountains. The San Gabriel Mountain Range is also nearby. Those who adventure outside the Valley will find they are within driving distance from many of Southern California’s major natural attractions, from the Mojave Desert to the beaches of Ventura and Santa Barbara.
Weather
The weather in Stevenson Ranch allows for almost year-round outdoor activity. Summers are warm and dry, while winters and springs see a bit of rain and cooler temperatures. The hottest days hit the 100s, while the coolest generally don’t fall below 40 degrees. Annual rainfall is about 18 inches, with most of this falling between November and March.
